This past June marked the 50th anniversary of the original summer blockbuster, Jaws. The groundbreaking film was directed by Steven Spielberg, who was a mere 27 years old during production of the calamity-plagued film and 28 when it premiered and changed summer movie-going forever.

I was delighted to spend time on Martha’s Vineyard where the movie was filmed. Added perk of sorts: I experienced an actual shark sighting while on the beach and watched everyone pour out of the water and onto safer, drier land.
While on the island, I stopped by the Martha’s Vineyard Museum to see their exhibit “Jaws at 50: A Deeper Dive.” Fantastic oral histories, props, screenplay pages, original art, mechanical shark specs, and a smaller-scale replica of one of my favorite billboards.
