What's inside...

It’s #GivingWednesday!

I thought I’d give everyone’s email inbox a rest and share one of my favorite causes and some other gratitude-inspired fare today, the Wednesday after Thanksgiving.

After all: Isn’t every day Giving Tuesday?

I was recently moved by a book club’s offer to donate to the charity of my choice as thanks for my visiting with them.

I have had the joy and privilege of volunteering with WriteGirl for more than four very gratifying years. Now in its 25th season—YAY!—WriteGirl is a creative writing and mentoring organization serving more than 500 teens annually, mainly from LA's high-density neighborhoods.

I believe in the power of writing to transform people’s lives, and WriteGirl is dedicated to helping young people do just that.

If you are so inclined, please visit my fundraising page and give a little to this amazing, uplifting organization today, tomorrow, or any day, for that matter. Thank you!

Denise Gives Thanks…and other stuff: an Our State sampler

Thanks to Our State magazine and the “Our State Book Club”—hosted by the always awesome Wiley Cash—for giving me some holiday love in their pages and on their airwaves. Check it all out here:

CRAFT Update

CRAFT is moving back online in the new year. There will be no CRAFT at Little Jumbo this month.

Why?

Well, it allows me to interview more people from different backgrounds in different parts of the country—or world, for that matter— which is something I miss from the COVID times. (The ONLY thing I miss from that time, believe me.)

I have also heard from folks who used to tune in online who have asked if I am ever going to do that again. It makes the talks easier to share, and sharing is nice.

Have a storyteller you’d like to see as a CRAFT guest? Write to [email protected].

Bruno took the advice emblazoned on his bowtie (“Eat Pie”) and got very sleepy.

Until next time…

More coming soon about the new book, my countdown to the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, holiday hijinks, recipes, and more.

I am off to build my holiday village….

With Gratitude,
